If you are looking for ideas to make your event even more awesome then book a drop in circus workshop area to help bring people together.
I have provided circus areas for hundreds of events over the years and despite being unashamedly bias here, cannot extol their virtues enough.
A circus area is an unpressured and friendly environment where children, adults and families can try their hand at juggling, hula hooping, plate spinning and much more.
I can juggle with two…
Mostly everyone has had some interaction with circus skills before. Mums and dads usually played with a diabolo when they were small or have some experience of juggling. Kids might have had a circus day in school (more on that in another post!) or had a go at a summer camp or similar.
Whatever level of skill people enter with, the person running the circus area will be able to take them from where they are and give them advice and more tricks to work on.
Everyone can play with the circus equipment at their own pace and when they leave, know a couple of tricks they didn’t before!
Taking time out to play
Whether it’s a school fete, scout or guide group, public holiday, festival or garden party, adding a communal area where having fun is the main event is a sure fire winner.
It’s not often you just get to put down the world and your worries for a few minutes and actually play, the magical thing about a circus area is that the main aim is to play and have fun!
The circus area acts as a constant space during an event where you and your children can pop back to at any time and throw things up in the air for a bit (constructively of course!).
I perform my 30 minute show in my circus area at public events and this is also another lovely way to get children and adults a like the chance to see some incredible juggling skills but also have a laugh together as an audience.
Laughter and fun are such powerful forces that help us connect as a people and it’s a privilege to be able to enable this as part of the work we all do as performers and teachers.
Circus areas are the best because:
- We encourage fun, community spirit and help people connect socially.
- It provides a constant, easily recognisable space where families can play together.
- Learning physical skills is for everyone and we enable all levels to achieve new things!
- We help improve personal achievement with the individual.
- Who doesn’t love a circus right?
